BALLIN' OUT IN AC

As many of you out there may have read before, I've been to Atlantic City a few times.  However, none of those experiences were ever like the one I had this past Friday, August 15.  I went to AC with my brother Ryan and friends Eric and Dave (different Dave from Ryan's birthday in AC).  The night started at Harrah's, where Dave and I had intended on going to The Pool Nightclub.  Ryan and Eric were going to the nearby Borgata to play poker, as neither of them were drinking on account of Ryan being a non-drinker and Eric being the designated driver.  The night started slowly, as I went to sign up for a Harrah's Gold Total Rewards card to get some discounts, including free admission to The Pool.  Little did I know that during that time, Ryan found one of our friends who would help turn the night up a notch.

I caught up with the guys at Harrah's Poker Room, where Ryan spotted our friend JJ.  JJ informed us that he and a couple of other guys I'm friends with had a room right there at Harrah's.  After eating a delicious dinner at Sack O' Subs, I called my man Dan, whose father provided him and his buddies with the room.  Dan brought my crew and I upstairs to his room, and all I could say was "Wow."  These guys had a corner suite on the 34th floor, with everything you could want:  kitchenette, flat screen TV, king sized bed, pullout sofa, two bathrooms, and two closets.  Plus, being on the 34th floor gave us a spectacular view of just about all of Atlantic City.  Ryan and Eric ended up leaving after a bit, while Dave and I pregamed in style with Red Bull and vodka.  We were joined by several others, many of whom I had not even seen since high school.  As good as this was, the night would get even better.

Not only did Dan and JJ and company have this sweet hotel room, they had a VIP area reserved at The Pool.  At around 11:30 all of us went down there, and we ended up having a great time even though the place was not quite as packed as we thought it would be.  Nonetheless, the VIP spot was great, complete with comfortable couches and a personalized TV.  To drink, we had one of the classiest of party drinks, Grey Goose, accessorized by ice and mixing juices.  I ended up getting pretty toasted off of The Goose, which was fine since I was not driving.  The funniest moment of the night occurred when a rather unattractive girl accosted Dan and started dancing with her, immediately after he made an unflattering comment about her.  Overall, drinking with old friends in luxury ended up being a pretty great experience.

Being at The Pool was certainly the highlight of the night, because from there it went mostly downhill.  Dave and I took a cab over to the Borgata at about 3 AM, and we ended up waiting over two hours for Eric to finish playing poker.  I mostly spent that time watching Eric, Ryan, and Dave play because I did not want to risk losing my cash playing myself.  That was quite boring, and it was tough waiting it out while being drunk and sleepy.  We finally left at 6 AM, but without Ryan, as he stayed at the casino playing poker until his friend Jeff picked him up and took him to his shore house at around 10.  I got to sleep at the ungodly hour of 7 AM, way later than I expected.  Still, overall it was a great night, and possibly my last in Atlantic City for a while.  To find out why I might not be back there any time soon, check out my video rant tomorrow, Wednesday the 20th.  Until then, goodbye.

DEWEY THE A**HOLE

(Note:  names of certain people have been changed to protect innocent people victimized by me)

Did someone ever tell you to do something, and you ended up doing the exact opposite, even though it was not on purpose?  That is what happened to me last Friday night and Saturday moring and afternoon.  I was staying overnight at the Jersey Shore house of my brother Ryan's friend John Hughes, which was convenient since we all wanted to go to nearby Atlantic City and go out to a couple of casinos.  Before leaving
for Brigantine, where John's family has their shore home, my mother told me to be on my best behavior and be respectful to the Hughes family.  It is safe to say that I did anything but what my mom asked of me.

Ryan, our friend Brad, and I got to the Hughes residence at around 6:30, and for a few hours everything was going fine.  Things changed when I saw Mr. Hughes with his mouth on a bottle of water, something I've seen John do before while dipping.  I asked Mr. Hughes if he was dipping, and of course he was not, which led me to say "Every time I see John with a bottle of water, he's dipping."  This ended up being an egregious mistake, since John's father had no idea that his son was putting tobacco under his lip.  The Hughes parents are not like mine, who would probably not consider recreational tobacco use a big deal (I don't do dip anyway).  After the four of us left the house, John repeatedly expressed displeasure in my leaking of his tobacco hobby to his less than understanding parents.

The next morning, everyone woke up for breakfast.  At this time I proceeded to commit my second and third fouls of the trip.  First, I decided that whoever was in the bathroom right when I woke up was taking too long, so I ended up urinating in the backyard.  I thought I got away with it, but John's brother Bill's girlfriend saw me relieving myself in a place that was certainly not a bathroom.  Luckily that was no big deal, but my troublemaking would continue.

Friday night I had made a horrendous joke about both the Mets' and Phillies' managers being named "Manuel," saying something like "neither of those teams are driving automatic!"  Feel free to hang your head in shame for me.  Anyway, Mr. Hughes claimed that my joke appeared as a headline in the newspaper the next day.  After briefly believing him, I realized that he was just kidding, responding, "Ahh you're just f***ing with me."  That's right, I cursed in front of the entire Hughes clan, as well as Mrs. Hughes' friend.  Nothing much was made of that either, but it was clear that I did not make myself look very good in front of guests.

My final miscue was jumping off of the Hughes' hot tub into the pool, something that John told me not to do but I did anyway.  Mr. Hughes saw me do this, adding to my already sullied reputation.  Despite everything that I did, I still shook his hand and thanked the Hughes' for their hospitality when I left.  Though most things in this world are not certain, I know of one certainty:  I will not be allowed back in their home, be it their regular home or shore house.  I'll conclude by saying that I am sorry for everything that I did last weekend, though the damage has already been done.  Hopefully, the Hughes' will forgive me for my actions, but considering my behavior I will not hold my breath waiting for them to do so.

YOUPORN:  THE GREATEST WEBSITE EVER?

Many people have told me not to write about pornography as it is in bad taste.  However, this is my website, and I can basically write about whatever I want, so porn I will discuss.  I will take some of their advice and not be too vulgar in talking about what I think is the greatest website on earth, YouPorn.  Founded in 2006, the site's name is derived from YouTube, and like YouTube this site features thousands of free videos.  Unlike YouTube, however, YouPorn's videos are of a very sexual and graphic nature, as they feature thousands of porn videos.  The best thing about YouPorn is that the site is 100% free and 100% malware and spyware free, something that you certainly cannot say about a lot of porn websites.  Many of them are full of nasty spyware and other bugs that can affect your computer's performance, something that can also be said about files that are retrieved from P2P sharing programs.

YouPorn is a simple website to use, something that makes it very user-friendly.  As with all adult websites, one must confirm that he (or she?) is at least 18 years of age upon entering the site.  The user then sees the newest videos uploaded to the site, usually sorted by the ratings of other users.  Like on YouTube, videos on YouPorn allow for ratings from one star to five stars.  Generally, videos rated 4-5 stars are longer clips with very attractive performers or something extraordinary happening, while those rated 1-2 stars are too short or have something unappealing to most people.  Users can also sort new videos by the number of views they have received, their duration, submission time, or in alphabetical order by title.  If you find a video you really like, you can create a free user name and save that video to your Favorites.  Users used to be able to comment on videos, but for reasons that are not that difficult to figure out comments have been disabled.

There are videos of all kinds on YouPorn.  Naturally, most of the videos on the site are of the straight variety, involving a male and a female performer.  Also appealing to straight men, and perhaps also lesbians, are the thousands of lesbian/girl on girl clips as well as solo videos of women.  The site appeals to gay men as well, having its own sections of guy on guy and solo male performer clips.  As a straight male, I tend to avoid those last two sections, preferring clips from the "Straight" category.  There is a good mix of homemade and professionaly produced pornography, all of which is submitted by website users.  Anyone who submits video must abide by U.S. Code 2257, which requires that the performers in the video are over the age of 18, among other things.

As I mentioned earlier, the best part about YouPorn is that the website is totally free of anything that could potentially damage your computer.  The videos are in Flash Video format, which seems to be the most popular format for videos on the Internet today.  YouPorn videos are easily downloadable and playable offline with a standard Flash Video Player, something you can get very easily - just Google it.  For those out there who are skeptical, you have my word that these videos will not infect your computer with spyware, viruses, Trojan Horses, or anything of that sort.  If their standard videos are not enough, YouPorn has several other features.  The site has a premium channel, YouPorn Plus, which has thousands of full length DVDs that can be accessed for just $9.95 a month.  They also have channels for webcams, chat, sex blogs, and even dating for those who are tired of looking at porn and wish to interact real women.  Hmmm, perhaps I should try that.

That's my take on YouPorn, perhaps the greatest website ever.  If you want a massive selection of pornographic videos for free, without damaging your hard drive, I suggest you go there and check it out.  I guarantee it will end up on your Bookmarks in no time.

THE FIRST THREE MONTHS WITH A NEW DOG

Remember a few weeks ago when I said in my article about my new car, "when one era ends, a new one begins?"  That statement does not only apply to cars but also to someone's family pet.  In January my family had to put down our original dog, Cashew, at the very old age of 14 after deciding that she was in great pain and was ready for "Doggie Heaven."  It was sad, but it had to be done.  Of course, the best way to get over the loss of an old pet is to get a new one, and that is what we did two months later.

After dropping my brother and I off at Philadelphia International Airport to go to Florida, my parents went to Coatesville, PA to respond to an advertisement for golden retriever puppies.  Cashew was half golden and half Labrador retriever, so it was a natural move to get a new dog similar to her.  According to my mother, one of the little puppies came up to her and "chose" her as our new pet, so my parents ended up taking her home.  They named her Latte, a name that I did not really approve of but have accepted, unlike my brother who refuses to call her by her real name.

As with anything in life, there are good things and bad things about having a puppy.  Here I will tell you about some of the ups and downs of raising a puppy.  Let me assure you now that while it is certainly not all good, the pros outweigh the cons and I enjoy having Latte around.

THE BAD

Latte has been quite the wild puppy.  She seems to have enough energy for two puppies, as sometimes she is so crazy it makes me think that we are accidentally putting amphetamines in her food.  Latte will do just about anything to annoy someone, be it jump them, bite them, or trying to take their food.  Biting has especially a problem.  That dog will bite people anywhere (yes, even in the groin area) and will not stop unless you give her something else to bite.  She seemingly will chew on anything that is made of wood, which isn't good if your house is made of it and has lots of paper products around.  Since that describes our household, Latte has plenty of great wood stuff to munch on and make a mess of.  Despite all of those problems, it is very much worth having her around, for reasons that I will explain now.

THE GOOD

The pictures above tell you a lot.  Though Latte is no longer that tiny after three months, she is still an adorable dog.  She is very happy most of the time, and even though that could lead to her ambushing someone, it is always pleasant to see a happy dog.  And, though it is not always the case, a happy dog usually leads to happy owners and vice versa.  Her presence has certainly not erased our memories of Cashew, but it has definitely eased the pain of losing her.  Latte even has some of the traits of our first dog, and seeing that brings back pleasant memories of Cashew.  Finally, and most importantly, it is great coming home and having someone happy to see you besides your parents for once (no offense, Mom and Dad), and my parents will likely reciprocate this answer.  All of this makes me certain that when I move out on my own, I will get a dog, most likely a golden retriever.

MY 2008 NBA FINALS PREVIEW

Many of you may not care that much about the NBA, but if there is a time to do so, it is now.  This is because starting Thursday night, June 5, the most anticipated NBA Finals in 10 years will tip off at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.  The 66-16 Boston Celtics will be hosting the 57-25 Los Angeles Lakers, the 11th Finals meeting between the two teams.  Generally, Celtics-Lakers championship matchups have been close and long series, as there has only been one sweep when the teams have met while they have gone to a full seven games three times.  The last time they faced off was 1987, which is also the last time the Celtics made the Finals.  The Lakers beat the Celtics in six games that year, beating the green guys for the second time in three 1980's Finals matchups.  Both teams were chock full of stars; Boston had the Big Three of Larry Bird, Robert Parish, and Kevin McHale, while the Showtime Lakers featured Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy.  With so many more stars like these in each team's past, it is no coincidence that Boston and Los Angeles are first and second all time in both total wins and NBA championships.

Once again, both teams are loaded with talent.  Boston has a new big three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, while the Lakers have the likes of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Lamar Odom.  You could say that each team, the East and West's top seeds respectively, acquired its top big man by swindling another franchise.  Boston acquired Kevin Garnett from his original team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, for the relatively small price of four average to below average players and two first round draft picks.  Minnesota still got a better deal than the Memphis Grizzlies did for Pau Gasol, a trade that may end up being labeled one of the dumbest in NBA history.  To get Gasol, all the Lakers had to give up was Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, two first round picks, and the rights to Pau's brother Marc Gasol.  Nonetheless, each trade helped Boston and Los Angeles put themselves over the top in their conferences and set up what should be an amazing Finals.

To me, the series will come down to each team's supporting cast.  It is almost a given that the stars will produce, meaning that which ever team gets more help from their role players will probably win the series.  When they won titles in the 1980s, each squad's stars were assisted in their title quests by players like Danny Ainge, Cedric Maxwell, Michael Cooper, and A.C. Green.  I believe that Boston's depth, with such quality players as Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, P.J. Brown, and Eddie House, will win out in the end.  My prediction is for the Celtics to win the first two games at home, win one in Los Angeles, then close out the series back at the Garden in Game 6.  Remember, the NBA Finals have a 2-3-2 format, quite different than the 2-2-1-1-1 format of the Stanley Cup Finals.

That's all for my NBA Finals preview.  You can catch all of the games at 9 PM on ABC, just be sure to check the schedule for when each game will take place.  We should be in for a treat, as this is the most anticipated Finals since 1998, when Michael Jordan led his Chicago Bulls to a sixth title over Karl Malone's Utah Jazz in six games.  Thanks for reading, and enjoy the Finals!

2008 PREAKNESS DRAW

My new job as an assistant producer for a horse racing television show has taken me to quite a few places, but the best so far was the draw for the 2008 Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, MD.  I went to the event, which was held at ESPN Zone at the Inner Harbor on May 14, with my boss, Bruce Casella.  Bruce produces a horse racing television show, Let's Go Racing, that airs on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia at 10 AM on Saturdays.  We went down to the draw to get B-roll and sound bites for the Preakness Preview edition of Let's Go Racing that aired the morning of the race.  It was certainly an experience that I enjoyed.

After arriving early, at around 4 PM (the event started at 5), we ate dinner from ESPN Zone's impressive spread.  One excellent perk of being a media member is free food at most large scale events, and this was no exception.  Bruce and I waited in the Media Room during the draw; after it was over, representatives of the 13 horses scheduled to run in the Preakness would come in there and answer questions.  Of course, the most sought-after person was Michael Iavarone, co-owner of overwhelming Preakness favorite Big Brown.  Like a lot of other media outlets, we wanted to get some sound bites for our show.

Bruce made a brilliant move by positioning himself at the front of the room, right where Iavarone was going to be positioned.  When Iavarone approached the podium, Bruce signaled me up to the front, where I grabbed the microphone while he operated the camera.  Despite feeling some other reporters push and try to get into my area, I stood my ground and was able to keep my spot right in front of Iavarone.  Rather than asking questions, I let other reporters give inquiries while I simply help up the mic to get their answers.  Bruce told me I did a good job, which meant a lot to me since this was the first media frenzy I ever participated in.

After getting the necessary sound bites regarding Big Brown, we moved on to other horses.  We made sure to interview Terry Finley of West Point Thoroughbreds, who entered Macho Again in the Preakness Stakes.  I had met Mr. Finley the week prior when Bruce interviewed him for Let's Go Racing, and Mr. Finley remembered me from then.  I thought it was really cool when he told me to call him Terry after I had formally addressed him as Mr. Finley.  We collected a few sound bites from him and Dallas Stewart, Macho Again's trainer.  After a couple more interviews, it was time for some post interview drinks, then back home to New Jersey.

For those who did not see the Preakness Stakes, Big Brown won to complete the second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, having won the Kentucky Derby two weeks prior.  Big Brown won both races by over five lengths, and will be the very heavy favorite to win the Belmont Stakes and become the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years.  Macho Again finished second, making me believe that I am a good luck charm to West Point.  After meeting Terry Finley the week before, his horse El Gato Malo won the Lone Star Derby, followed by Macho Again's runner up finish at Pimlico.  Perhaps my luck will rub off on his horses yet again and Macho Again will place at Belmont.  Nonetheless, be sure to catch the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 7, because Big Brown could make horse racing history with a win.

CRAZY WEEKEND OF MAY 9-10

After a memorable and taxing night out in Atlantic City for my brother's birthday, I had to have taken it easy the next weekend, right?  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I ended up participating in a crazy weekend in West Chester, PA and Newark, DE.  I had lots to do in both places, so I'll start recapping everything right away.

I arrived at my brother Ryan's place in West Chester at about 6:45 PM Friday night, bringing along a friend of ours, Dan, who you can see in the above photo on the left (he's on the right in that photo).  He came up with me for the 21st birthday of our friend Francis aka Franny, who is on the left in that same photo.  Ryan, his future roommate Dave, Dan and I went over to Franny's spot to watch the Flyers game.  After watching them lose, we had a solid pregame filled with cheap beer and Jack Daniels.  Fran was alright at that point, but there was much carnage to come.  Props to him, his roommates, and his fraternity brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at WCU for an entertaining time watching the Flyers game and pregaming.

When the pregame concluded, mostly everyone went out to Barnaby's of West Chester, an outstanding sports bar and restaurant on High Street.  The place was very nice and not overly crowded, likely because a lot of West Chester University seniors were resting up for the following morning's graduation.  Our group got drinks, of course, then hit the dance floor for a while.  Ryan, Dave, and I got tired of that and got some panzarottis before walking back to Ryan's apartment, where Dave and I also slept.  On the way back we got word that Franny threw up in someone's car, something I found hilarious but at the same time I felt bad for whoever's car that happened to.  The over/under for times he would puke was two, and I believe by the next day he matched or surpassed that.

We went to sleep at around 3 AM, and about an hour later some idiot pulled the fire alarm at Ryan's apartment building.  This kept us up for a little while, which sucked since we were getting up at 10 AM to help Dave move out of his old apartment and into Ryan's, where he is living for about a month until they get their new place.  We were able to move Dave with no major problems, and that included his massive and very heavy couch.  Luckily, Dan was available to help us move the couch, wh
ich was necessary considering we had to get it up to Ryan's third floor apartment.  After that was done, I gratefully collected $25 from Dave's father, then drove an hour south to the University of Delaware for some more debauchery.

My fraternity brothers had a Beer-BQ at one of their houses as a pregame for Chapelfest 2008.  Chapelfest is named such because it is an annual block party that consumes just about all of North Chapel Street in Newark.  The initial BBQ was a good time, chock full of beer, jungle juice, good food, and a newly installed tree swing.  Also, a lot of my fellow alumni brothers were there, a couple of whom you can see in the photo on the right.  A few of us then went up to Chapelfest, which was disappointing compared to last year's edition.  Police officers were out in full force and came from every level:  Municipal, County, State, you name it.  They were carding some kids, arresting others, and worst of all, did not allow bands to play.  This was very disappointing since my friends in Three Legged Fox were not allowed to play their excellent music, getting shut down after only one song.  The city of Newark apparently does not want students to have fun like they used to; oh well, good thing I already graduated and had my good times.

I must give a thumbs down to many UD students on that Saturday night, mainly my friends.  Many of them decided not to go out, which is not surprising since a lot did some heavy day drinking.  However, I still think they should have manned up and gone out to the bars, especially those seniors who are running out of time as college students.  Most of the people I called were either not going out or did not pick up the phone, which made me think they were also not going out.  Oh well, I only live an hour away, so I can basically come back whenever I want.  Maybe I'll go back next weekend when there is no day drinking and people will be out at night.

Its weekends like this that make me miss being in college.  I thought those four years were going to last forever, but they flew by more quickly than a 747 over Rhode Island.  Therefore, I have a message to all college students out there.  Go out as much as you can, without sacrificing school work (too much) of course.  Plan weekends like mine but even crazier.  Enjoy your time in school, because once it's over, the real world comes calling, and it sucks.  If I have inspired at least one person to go out and party more, then my work here is done.  Really, no matter how old you are, GO OUT AND PARTY!

MY BROTHER'S 21ST BIRTHDAY

My brother, Ryan, finally turned 21 on Thursday, May 1, 2008.  The best thing about this is that he can now legally gamble, which is a great thing since he is a poker aficionado.  Ryan, friends Eric and Dave and I immediately took advantage of this fact and spent Thursday night to Friday morning at the Borgata Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City.  For Ryan, Dave, and I, this would be our first time gambling at the Borgata, though that was certainly not the case for Eric.  Ryan and I had previously seen a couple of comedy shows at their Comedy Club, something we had originally planned to do again but later scrapped since it would cost $20 and take up an hour or so that we could use to drink and gamble.  Big ups to Eric, who got us a discounted hotel room thanks to his My Borgata Card and his being a frequent poker player there.  Our room cost $100 for the night, while the regular rate for a Thursday night was $189, and that's for the least expensive rooms.  Dave and I had to sleep on the floor, but we didn't really care that much since the room was dirt cheap compared to the standard rates.

That afternoon we picked up some alcohol to make sure we were feeling good before hitting the casino.  We drank much of a 30 of Miller High Life Light and Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka mixed with Fresca.  Yeah, I know, not the classiest of drinks, but remember we aren't late 20- or 30-somethings with well-paying careers yet.  We got to Atlantic City at around 6:30 PM, where we picked up subs from White House Sub Shop.  If you'll recall, I wrote a piece commending them as having the best subs in South Jersey a little while back.  Once again, they were excellent.  I had their cheesesteak sub, as did Ryan and Eric, while Dave had a traditional Italian.  We ate the subs at the hotel room, a place I thought I was not going to be able to sneak the alcohol into.  You see, they have security at the Borgata hotel elevators, and they checked a box of snacks we had.  When Ryan asked why it was searched, the woman working security said they have a "no outside alcohol" policy in their hotel rooms.  After hearing this, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach and my pulse just about doubled since I was the one holding the alcohol.  Luckily, the security guard thought it was my luggage since it was in a beach bag and let me in with no problems.

The hotel room itself was great.  We had a great view of Atlantic City from the 24th Floor, as you can see in the photo above.  The bathroom was very luxurious, featuring a temperature-controlled shower and a door separating the toilet from the shower and sink for a sense of privacy.  We all made sure to use the shower, as much because we knew it would be a good shower as us needing to clean up after playing hockey that afternoon.  After showering and about an hour of drinking, we headed downstairs to hit the poker tables at around 9 PM.  Dave and I played $2/$4 Limit Texas Hold 'Em, Ryan played $3/$6 Limit, and Eric played $20/$40 Limit.  Eric is the most experienced player and had a lot more cash than us, which is why he played much higher stakes.  He did the best at the tables as well, finishing up $100.  Ryan was up $61, I was at even, and Dave, the least experienced poker player of us, blew his $60 in about 20 minutes.  Ryan's luck did not translate to other games at the casino, however.  He lost $40 back in Four Card Poker, a game that is quite rigged, and another $11 in a "Spin the Wheel for Prizes" game.

My poker experience was pretty decent.  It would have been better if the two people surrounding me at my table knew how to shut the hell up once in a while.  The woman to the left of me and the guy to the right talked so much it was irritating, and this is coming from a guy who loves to talk and irritate people.  Nonetheless, I still got good experience, as this was my first time playing Limit Poker.  It generally limits your losses, something that No Limit does not, as I had discovered by losing $260 in my previous three casino excursions.  I was up $20 at one point, largely thanks to my 8-7 off suite cracking pocket aces and landing me a full house on one hand.  Later, my luck reversed as I folded a flush and never won a hand after that, so I packed it in before losing all of my profit.  I was up $8 in two hours, which is basically even as I mentioned earlier.

After poker, the four of us went to the two bars that were open, Gypsy Bar and B Bar.  Gypsy Bar closed at 1 AM, while B Bar is open 24/7 year round.  Neither place had a great selection of the young, single women that we were looking for, since it was mostly an older crowd and most of the girls were taken already.  Also, we didn't feel like spending anything on drinks considering there was plenty of beer and vodka waiting for us upstairs in the room.  Eric was a sport and treated us to drinks at the B Bar, which was good because I didn't feel like spending $6 on a Heineken Light.  Eric and Ryan then went to get some food when Dave and I finally saw a group of possibly single and somewhat chubby girls who appeared to be under 30.  We went upstairs to the room to drink a little more, then came back to see if we could work some game on them.  Unfortunately, we, make that I, was rejected, and the rest of the crowd wasn't going to be any better, so at that point (about 3 am) we decided to call it a night.

After watching a little TV and discussing random stuff, the four of us crashed at around 4 AM.  Sleeping late was not an option because checkout time was 11 AM, so we had to get up at around 10 to get our stuff together.  Later we got a free lunch courtesy of my father, who was staying at Bally's for an attorney convention.  He showed us around the convention, introduced us to some people he knew, and then took us out to Hard Rock Cafe, which is located on the Boardwalk at the Trump Taj Mahal.  After eating and cruising the Boardwalk for a bit, it was finally time to go home.

This was my first real overnight trip to Atlantic City, and it was a very good time.  I had slept over there before, but it was while I was underage and with my parents, so I don't count that.  I finally didn't lose a big amount of cash at a casino, so I'd consider the trip a success.  I hope to be back there many times to play at the casinos, but maybe not until I have a well-paying career that allows me to lose $1000 and simply say, "Whatever, it's Atlantic City, it happens."  Until then, I'll continue playing for small stakes on PokerStars, a website that could be a future Non-Hockey topic in itself.  See you all next week.
